The Bucegii mountains are in the group of Carpathians, having an area of approximately 300 square kilometers, beingbordered to the south of Prahova and Sub-carpathian mountains, north of Barsa, east of Prahova Valley, and west of Rucar-Bran corridor. From history point of view, Bucegii mountains base was established mainly in Jurassic and Cretacic. So, on one hand we have the Jurassic limestones in the south west (Pelisor Valley, Poiana Stanei, Ialomita Valley, Sinaia, Zanoaga Tatarului), and on the other hand we present conglomerates and Cretaceous sandstones in the rest of the massif (Costila, Jepii Mici, Jepii Mari, Caraimanul, Gaura Valley, etc). In the plateau due to erosion sandstones and conglomerates type are witnessing the emergence of a babe that are specific to this mountain range. Bucegii unfolds as altitudes between 900m and 2500m above sea level, culminating in the 2505m peak Omu.
